Nagrade ob mejnikih, ki stranke obdržijo

30. July 2026

onkraj kartice

Presenečenje

Ob petindvajsetem obisku ali prvi obletnici nekaj nepričakovanega. Ravno to obdrži vaše najboljše stranke.

Tretjič, najmočnejši mejniki so osebni in nekoliko nepričakovani.

Sami določite, kje so mejniki in kaj prinesejo, zato imate stroške ves čas pod nadzorom.
Koliko mejnikov je preveč?
Dva do trije poleg glavne nagrade so dovolj. Preveč mejnikov postane zmedeno in stranka izgubi občutek, kje sploh je. Naj bo pot pregledna: nekaj jasnih postaj, ne dolg seznam.
Preprosto jih začnete tam, kjer so.

Repeat customers

Milestone rewards that keep customers coming back

July 30, 2026

Almost every loyalty card has a single finish line: buy ten, get the eleventh free. It works, but it has a quiet flaw. To the customer, visit number two and visit number seven look exactly the same — nothing happens until you reach the end. And the moment they finally get the reward, the card resets to zero. That's the most dangerous moment in the whole programme: right when they should feel rewarded, they're back at the start of a long road.

Milestone rewards fix both problems at once. Instead of one big reward at the end, you place several smaller wins along the way — and one or two beyond it. The customer feels progress the whole time, not just on the tenth visit.

Why a single finish line isn't enough

Picture a corner café. Someone comes in for the third time, likes it, but the tenth visit is still a long way off. If a new café opens across the street with an opening offer, there's nothing holding them — your card gives them no reason not to try elsewhere. The first nine stamps deliver nothing tangible, so they never build a habit. Habits come from small, repeatable rewards, not one distant one.

And then there's the reset. A customer just earned their tenth coffee, the card empties — and psychologically they're back where they were on day one. If that moment hands them nothing but a blank card, plenty of people quietly drop off. Milestones bridge exactly that gap: right after the big reward, the next small one is already in sight.

visit 2–3

Welcome back

A small gesture on the first return — a biscuit with the coffee, a bonus stamp. Cheap, but it says: we noticed you came back.

halfway

You're close

A short message or a marker on the card at stamp five. Nothing free, just a reminder that the goal is within reach.

visit 10

The main reward

The classic prize the programme is named after. The tenth coffee, a free trim, whatever you've promised.

beyond the card

A surprise

Something unexpected at the twenty-fifth visit or a first anniversary. This is what keeps your very best customers.

What makes a milestone actually work

A good milestone is, first, visible. If the customer doesn't know it exists, it can't act as an incentive — so progress has to be legible, ideally right on the card in their phone. Second, keep rewards small early and bigger later. A biscuit on the third visit costs you almost nothing but builds the habit; the big reward arrives once the customer has already proven they come back.

Third, the strongest milestones are personal and a little unexpected. A birthday reward, or one on the anniversary of a first visit, doesn't read as a discount — it reads as someone remembering you. That feeling, not the value of the reward itself, is what ties a customer to a place. For a hair salon a milestone might be the fifth appointment with a free treatment; for a bakery, the tenth loaf; for a café, a plain gesture at just the right moment.

Milestones you can't run on paper

All of this sounds lovely until you try it with paper cards. Milestone rewards need you to record every visit, know who's at which count, and have a way to nudge the right customer at the right time. Paper does the first badly and the other two not at all. That's why most shops stick to a single finish line — not because it's better, but because everything else is too much manual work.

This is where a digital card earns its keep. With klink. every visit is recorded by the system, the card in Apple or Google Wallet updates in real time, and progress stays in front of the customer the whole way. A simple dashboard shows you who's near a milestone, and automated messages (birthdays, milestones, win-backs) send that short hello for you. Instead of keeping a visit tally in your head, the programme runs itself — and you get to spend your attention on customers, not on counting stamps.

Won't extra rewards eat into my margin?
Not necessarily. Early milestones are deliberately small — a biscuit or a bonus stamp costs little but lifts how often people come in. You decide where the milestones sit and what they give, so your costs stay under control throughout.
How many milestones is too many?
Two or three beyond the main reward is plenty. Too many milestones get confusing and the customer loses track of where they are. Keep the path legible: a few clear stops, not a long list.
What about customers already halfway on paper?
You simply start them where they are. When you move to a digital card, credit the visits they've already collected — nobody goes back to zero, and nobody walks away disappointed.

Milestone rewards aren't a gimmick; they're a way to give a loyalty programme back the thing a single distant goal takes away — the sense that every visit counts. A small win today is what brings the next visit tomorrow.
